The difference in AU comes at the end of university.
* When Bart gets the trauma, he does not manage to get his musical career back on track quickly. He still gets tutoring and support from Elliot Craig's mother, however. It lets him not get discouraged about it.
* The following years are pretty rough. Eventually he ends up in a band that for a long time tries to play around military bases / camps, in the hopes of getting a contract with the military. They never do, but it lets Bart meet people (including reuniting with Elliot, and meeting Penelope) that he wouldn't otherwise have known. It gives him a much more down-to-earth experience than the pretty remote classical pianist from the original AU.
* Eventually, about two years ago, luck finally smiles at him once more. (If it can be called luck, considering, the app.) He gets an agent, and that's why he moves to Recolle, to go to performing and teaching.
* Currently, the differences from original AU is that he's far more involved with the art scene, rather than being somewhat of a loner aside from it.
